It’s been two years now on kentonwhitman.com (launch was October ’06), and I wanted to do something a little different today. First, I want to extend a heart-felt ‘thank-you’ to all my readers. We’re now a community of over 300 subscribers and 800 regular readers. We’ve gotten here almost completely ‘word-of-mouth’, seeing as this blog has not been subject to any kind of aggressive promotion. You’ve told your friends about this site, and it’s grown because you find the content valuable. Thank you =)
Second, I’m happy to announce the launch of a new site (don’t worry, kentonwhitman.com will continue as usual) – kentonandrebecca.com. Many of you have come to know Rebecca through this site or your letters to me, and since this year is also our ten year wedding anniversary (October ‘98), we thought it was time to step out and share a little more of our life with the world. Subtitled Living the Juicy Life, you’ll find the same wisdom and insight you’ve come to expect here, but in a more tangible form. Kentonandrebecca.com highlights my writing projects and Rebecca’s photography. In it you’ll experience everyday life seen through our eyes.
The site features:
– The Adventure Journal, where you can read about our encounters with bears, anacondas, and the world of nature.
– Insight into the natural world.
– Rebecca’s photography throughout the site.
– Articles on how to live life with passion and awareness.
– Updates on our writing and photography careers.
– Revealed at last, the secret project I’ve been engaged in for the last year and half! (Although I also reveal it below.)
Kentonandrebecca.com is created to be a little old-fashioned. It’s a bit like a book, where you can slow down, dig in, and discover some really great content. It will inspire you to explore life and really start Living Juicy!
Also, we’re launching one more site today – this one came about because we’ve been experimenting a lot lately with Intention-Manifestation for our friends and family, and the results have been amazing. So we’re reaching out to offer this to the world – at The Generosity Project, you can send us your Intentions and we’ll include them in our daily I-M sessions. Then let us know what sort of results you see! It’s going to be an exciting experiment.
Finally, a little update on my life. For the past year and a half I’ve been, well . . . chasing wild turkeys. I know, it sounds rather strange. But the idea was that I wanted to try something that might be impossible, to challenge myself physically, emotionally, and mentally. It was also a perfect way to re-connect with nature, as it’s been twenty years since I spent my summer living in the wilderness.
My turkey-chasing adventures were often hilarious, and they taught me a lot about humans’ relationship with the natural world. So at the end of the chasing, I sat down and wrote a book about my experience. It’s a story about nature, love, and chasing our dreams, no matter how difficult or ridiculous our dreams might be.
Chasing turkeys was challenging, but now I’m chasing something equally difficult to catch – a literary agent. I’ve been told that the best way to get an agent is through someone who knows one – in other words, by utilizing your network of friends and family. So I’m reaching out to my extended community of friends on kentonwhitman.com – if you have a contact you’d like to share, feel free to write me. You can read a sample chapter from the book on kentonandrebecca.com.
Of course, I can’t leave you without a bit of Zen. So here’s a thought that occurred to me when I woke up this morning.
Right Here, Right Now
Dwelling perfectly in the present, dreaming about tomorrow, or remembering the past, we are always in one place – Dwelling perfectly in the present.
The point here is that the problem isn’t what our mind is thinking – it’s our resistance to our thoughts that creates our suffering. We are so insistent that peace = a certain mindset, that we miss the fact that peace is not about disciplining our minds.
It’s about ceasing our resistance to Life.
Have a wonderful week, and I’ll look forward to hearing from you at kentonandrebecca.com!

Congratulations on both anniversaries.
Thanks Patricia!
Belated congratulations on your anniversaries, Kenton and Rebecca. Well done!
Thanks for sharing your new sites, too. Excellent writing, as always K, and superb photography, R. The plant guide seems a little superficial, but probably deliberately so. I’d love to follow the adventures of such an inspiring and beautiful couple. Would be even more interesting when kids are thrown into the mix sometime.
Have you thought about publishing and marketing your new book as an e-book, K? I certainly wouldn’t mind a Whitman book on my book shelf at some point all the same.
Hello sof theo, and thanks!
Oh yes, kids . . . soon on the agenda, we’re thinking! Perhaps in the next couple of years.
Haven’t thought about the e-book route, so I haven’t done any research on it. Thanks for the suggestion — I’ll look into it!
Hope you’ve been doing wonderfully — it’s great to hear from you.
Sweetwater,
Kenton
